    Mother Lode Families,

We hope you are healthy. Mother Lode, in collaboration and concurrence with El Dorado County Superintendent of Schools and Public Health Officer Dr. Nancy Williams is extending school closures through Spring Break with caution that school closures may be extended beyond. See Press Release on our website.

The Mother Lode Union School District administration, teachers, and classified staff are collaborating to provide you with information and support during this critical time.  The district is approaching our response in four phases outlined below. While we were planning to get student work to you this week, as a district, we have focused our efforts on food distribution and deep cleaning to ensure a clean and safe campus for all.

    Phase 1: March 18-20:

    • Nutrition Services

      • Meals will be distributed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from Indian Creek parent drop-off this week.

    • Special Education, 504, and Student Success Team (SST)

      • MLUSD is committed to provide equity and equal access for all of our students. During this week, all direct services to students have been suspended and previously scheduled meetings will be rescheduled.

    • Resources for Families

      • The District has created a resources document outlining recommended steps for families to take during this first week of school closure. The document is available on the MLUSD website.  *If computer and/or internet access is problematic, we encourage families to establish a daily routine that includes, reading, writing, math, science, P.E., social studies, and chores.

      • Teachers will continue to be in communication with students via email, Google, Zoom, etc.

        • Herbert Green: Many teachers at Herbert Green are utilizing their Google Classrooms to post assignments, learning opportunities, and to communicate with their students. Students can access Google Classroom on any device with their school email and password. Office hours have been established and are posted on the Herbert Green Website.

        • Indian Creek: Teacher office hours have been established and learning resources will be available on the Indian Creek website in the near future.

      • School websites are being updated with teacher office hours and learning resources.

    Phase 2: March 23-April 3

    • Nutrition Services

      • Meals will be distributed Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from Indian Creek parent drop-off between 11 am and 1 pm. We will be providing “double meals” on Tuesdays and Fridays.

    • Special Education, 504, and Student Success Team (SST)

      • MLUSD is committed to provide equity and equal access for all of our students. During this week, all direct services to students have been suspended and previously scheduled meetings will be rescheduled.

    • Academic Resources

      • We plan to distribute learning packets and Chromebooks to families at Indian Creek Library for all grades (TK-8) Tuesday 3/24 and Thursday 3/26 between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm. Teachers are available and will be contacting families regarding educational opportunities for students.

      • These learning opportunities are intended to enrich student learning but will not impact current grades or academic credits.

    • Chromebook Distribution

      • Please fill out this form if you would like to check-out a Chromebook using this link

Phase 3: April 6-10 Spring Break

    • This is our previously scheduled spring break.

    Phase 4: April 13-TBD

    • In the event that the school closure is extended beyond our scheduled spring break, MLUSD administration and teachers will be collaborating in the next two weeks to establish procedures and processes for providing quality online learning opportunities for students.  More information will be made available regarding long term online learning plans once additional school closures have been confirmed.

    • Special Education, 504, and Student Success Team (SST)--MLUSD is committed to provide equity and equal access for all of our students. In the event that school closures continue beyond phase 3 MLUSD will be collaborating with teachers to plan inclusive online instruction and access to special education supports and services. All previously rescheduled IEP, 504, and SST meetings will be scheduled using virtual meeting platforms.

Thank you for your grace and patience as we work together to support our students and each other. We are all in this together.
